PEACEFEST INVITATION

PeaceFest Community Unveils Plans For Converting Alcatraz Island Into
The Global Peace Center

"MISSION: Transform Alcatraz Island, a place of pain and suffering into
'A Shining, Pulsing Jewel Of Light' to Unleash Powerful Forces for
Cooperation, Reconciliation and Healing"

On Saturday, September 25th -"A Day Of Attainment", The Global Peace
Foundation in association with Native American Elders, musicians,
dancers, artists, healers and drummers will hold a free Peacefest ~ A
Sacred Festival of Global Peace and Harmony at Speedway Meadows in
Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.

PeaceFest will feature The Harmonium, a 60 foot geodesic dome which
will serve as a sacred sound space for healing and transformation.  In
addition to The Harmonium, there will be a Main Stage with live music,
a dance dome, featuring yoga & Tai Chi and a prayer tent with a sacred
altar!!

For over 25 years, The Global Peace Foundation has gathered national
and international support for the Alcatraz Conversion Project. To learn

us in a Meshika (Aztec) Ceremony in the Natautl language of the
Meshika. We will respectfully call upon the four cardinal directions,
Our Dear Father Sky, Our Dear Mother Earth and Nawi Ollin Teotl
(movement of the four energies) along with the blowing of the sacred
conch shell. We will cleanse the area with sacred copal. You may bless
yourself with the copal anytime during the day. Ometeotl!

Directions to Golden Gate Park ~ Speedway Meadows

From US 101: (from the Peninsula or the South Bay)

    9th Street Exit: Exit off US 101 at 9th Street Exit. Stay in the
two left lanes. These lanes will take you onto 9th Street. The two left
lanes will cross Market Street and veer left onto Hayes Street.
Continue up Hayes Street and turn left on Gough Street. Go one block
and turn right onto Fell Street then continue on Fell Street all the
way to park.


    Mission Street Exit: The second & third to the left hand lanes will
turn onto Van Ness Avenue. Continue up Van Ness to Hayes Street. Turn
left onto Hayes and continue up Hayes Street then turn left on Gough
Street. Go one block and turn right onto Fell Street then continue on
Fell Street all the way to park.


From Bay Bridge (1-80):

    9th Street Exit:  Exit will take you onto Harrison Street. Go one
block to 9th Street and turn right onto 9th Street. The two left lanes
will cross Market Street and veer left onto Hayes Street. Continue up
Hayes Street and turn left on Gough Street. Go one block and turnright
onto Fell Street then continue on Fell Street all the way to park.


    Mission Street Exit: Exit at Mission Street Exit. The second &
third to the left hand lanes will turn onto Van Ness Avenue. Continue
on Van Ness then turn left onto Hayes Street. Continue up Hayes Street
and turn left on Gough Street. Go one block and turn right onto Fell
Street then continue on Fell Street all the way to park.


From Golden Gate Bridge:

    19th Avenue Exit: Cross Golden Gate Bridge, take the 19th Avenue
exit then follow Park Presidio to Golden Gate Park.


From Highway 280: (from the Peninsula or the South Bay)

    19th Avenue Exit: Take highway 280 North to the 19th Avenue exit
and continue down 19th Avenue to Golden Gate Park.


DIRECTIONS TO SPEEDWAY MEADOW PICNIC AREA:

 Hwy 101 from San Jose or Bay Bridge: Once on Fell Street, stay in the
second to right hand lane. This lane will bring you into the park onto
John F. Kennedy Drive. Continue down John F. Kennedy Drive to
approximately 25th Avenue. Speedway Meadows is on the left hand side.

 Golden Gate Bridge: From 19th Avenue exit, follow Park Presidio, and
turn right onto Cabrillo Street. Continue down Cabrillo Street to 25th
Avenue and turn left onto 25th Avenue then stay in right hand lane.
After crossing Fulton Street, veer to right, onto Transverse Drive into
Golden Gate Park. At stop sign turn right onto John F. Kennedy Drive.
Speedway Meadows is on the left hand side.

From Hwy 280: Take Hwy 280 North to the 19th Avenue exit. Continue on
19th Ave into park (which becomes Cross Over Drive) and stay in left
hand lane which becomes a left turn only lane. Continue through signal
intersection then make a quick left onto Transverse Drive. At stop sign
turn right onto John F. Kennedy Drive. Speedway Meadows is on the left
hand side.
